What does our Blokzeep consist of?
Because we at Blokzeep want to be transparent about our products, all of our products come with an ingredient list. Some ingredients you will recognize right away, but there are probably a few that you can't immediately place or don't know what they are for. For your convenience, this page lists all the ingredients found in our shampoo bars, conditioner bars and deodorants! Aloe Barbadensis Extract - Aloe vera extract
Aloe Vera is widely praised for its positive effects, and this is no different for your hair. The ingredient acts as a conditioner and leaves hair shiny. Aloe vera contains antioxidants and minerals and has moisturizing properties. It provides a supply of nutrients to the hair fibers and keeps hair shiny and silky.
Alpha Isomethyl Ionone
This is a colorless fragrance. Its floral fragrance is reminiscent of violets. It is made from a 100% naturally occurring organic compound.
Amyl Cinnamal - Amyl Cinnamal (Allergen)
Amyl Cinnamal is listed in our ingredient lists, but it is not a separate ingredient. This substance is 100% natural and comes from one of the essential oils used that is also in the product where you see this substance listed. It serves as a fragrance and according to the EU, this substance must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance. Angustifolia Flower Oil - Lavender Extract

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil - Argan Oil
Argan oil is made from the kernel of the Argan tree. Due to a high content of unsaturated fatty acids, it penetrates deeply into your hair to make it more supple. The linoleic acids put a protective layer on your hair that makes it retain moisture better and shine.

Benzyl Alcohol - Allergen

Benzyl Benzoate - Benzyl Benzoate
Benzyl Benzoate is a 100% natural, oily fragrance. It moisturizes the hair and scalp and serves as a perfume. It also suppresses the natural odor of non-scented ingredients. We use it as a stabilizer of our product composition and it helps make a hard product more flexible. Suitable for all hair types.
Benzyl Salicylate - Benzyl Salicylate

This substance is 100% natural and comes from one of the essential oils used that is also in the product where you see this substance listed. Butylphenyl Methylpropional - Lilial (allergen)

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter - Shea butter
Shea butter is made from the nuts of the shea tree, which grows exclusively in West Africa. Shea butter has hydrating and moisturizing properties. So does your hair retain moisture? Your hair is actually composed of 10%-13% and if the moisture content is lower, it can start to look dehydrated. Also, shea butter is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for all skin types. Shea butter is high in vitamins A and E, both vitamins that have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants keep you young and keep your skin cared for!

Calendula Officinalis Extract - Marigold Extract
Marigold Extract is a 100% natural extract from wonderfully fragrant marigolds. These are rich in carotenoids, flavonoids (an antioxidant) and saponins. The latter is a natural soap substance that is degreasing for hair and scalp. Marigold purifies the scalp and is good against dry and coarse hair. In fact, it moisturizes and softens your dry hair and gives your hair deep care. It also gives your hair more bounce, perfect for wavy and curly hair.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf (extract) - Green tea (extract)
Camelia Sinensis is the normal tea plant, from which green tea is made. It gives the characteristic fragrance of green tea. In addition, the extract is rich in antioxidants to keep your skin young
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Also known as Octanoic acid, this substance has caring and moisturizing properties. It is used in products such as sunscreen, face cream and lip balm. It is also used as a thickening agent, making the product firmer in texture.
Cetearyl Alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol, recognizable by that same name on the INCI label of cosmetics products, is a mixture of two fatty acid alcohols: cetyl alcohol and steryl alcohol. In our case, it is made from coconut oil, making it completely vegan. Cetearyl Alchol acts primarily as an emulsifier: a substance that allows oil and water to mix in a cream. In addition, it serves as a thickener and foaming agent.
Chamomilla Recutita Flower (Extract)- Chamomile flower (extract)
Chamomile extract is used to give a product a wonderful fragrance. In addition, it acts as an antioxidant. Chamomile flower is excellent for people with blonde hair. It gives your hair a nice shine and for people with light hair color, it can boost the color in a natural way.
CI 11680- Pigment Yellow 1 - Dye.
Pigment Yellow 1 is a yellow dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 12490 - Pigment Red 5 - Dye.
Pigment red 5 is a red dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 15985- Yellow 6
Yellow 6 is a yellow dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 16255- Acid red 18
Acid red 18 is a red dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 19040- Acid Yellow 23 - Dye.
Acid Yellow 23 is a yellow dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 19140- Tartrazine - Dye.
Tartrazine is a yellow dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 40800- Beta-carotene - Dye.
Becarotene is an orange dye, of natural origin. It is also called provitamin A. It is found, among other things, in vegetables and yellow or orange fruits, where it is responsible for the color. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 42051- Acid blue 3 - Dye.
Acid blue 3 is a blue dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 42090- Acid blue 9
Acid blue 9 is a blue dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 51319- Pigment Violet 23
Pigment Violet 23 is a purple dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 74260- Pigment Green 7 - Dye.
Pigment Green 7 is a green dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
CI 77947- Pigment White 4 - Dye.
Pigment White 4 is a white dye. According to the EU, it must be listed if the product contains more than 0.01% of this substance.
Citral - Allergen

This extract contains a lot of Vitamin C and carotene, both antioxidants. Antioxidants have a rejuvenating effect on the skin. In addition, this extract is also used for fragrance.
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel - Orange peel extract
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel is a 100% natural essential oil that is widely used as a fragrance agent due to its fruity, fresh scent. The oil is pressed from the fresh peels of the sweet orange. Orange naturally softens and strengthens the skin and it supports the regeneration of skin cells. Another positive property of orange oil is that it is soothing and antiseptic. This makes orange oil excellent as an ingredient in Blokzeep makeup remover and facial cleanser.
Citrus Bergamia Peel Oil Expressed - Bergamot peel extract
Bergamot oil is a 100% natural essential oil that is widely used as a fragrance agent due to its delicious, fruity citrus scent. This extract is drawn from the peels of the bergamot. The bergamot is a citrus fruit, a cross between a lime and a sour orange. Besides its delicious smell, bergamot is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The bergamot oil protects your skin from pollution and is also good for soothing and softening your skin. The bergamot oil has not been prolonged or diluted in any way so that you enjoy the extra benefits of bergamot.
Citrus Limon Peel Oil - Lemon Peel Extract
Lemon oil is a 100% natural essential oil pressed from the peel of lemons. The oil helps improve the skin's natural balance and reduce excess sebum. This makes the oil highly suitable for treating oily skin and acne. In addition, lemon oil possesses moisturizing properties. It nourishes damaged skin and gives it a stimulating boost. The combination of these properties makes lemon oil perfect for the facial products for oily skin from our facial care line.
Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil - Grapefruit peel extract
Grapefruit oil is a 100% natural essential oil that is widely used as a fragrance due to its delicious, fresh scent. Grapefruit oil is pressed from fresh peels and is rich in antioxidants. Grapefruit has antibacterial and antiseptic effects, making it great for regulating sweat. In addition, grapefruit oil possesses astringent and detoxifying properties and is good for firming the skin.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
This ingredient is made from coconut oil. It is used as a natural foaming agent.
Cocos Nucifera Oil - Coconut Oil
Apart from the distinctive coconut smell, coconut oil can enhance your hair's natural oils, reduce frizz and tangles and create shiny locks. Coconut oil holds moisture very well, giving your hair deep hydration. It also protects your hair from damage. This is because coconut fat gives a protective layer to your hair. Thus, it also protects against the sun. For your scalp, it also has many benefits. For example, it is good against dry, irritated or even burned skin.
Coumarin - Coumarin (allergen)

Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride is a fully biodegradable ingredient and helps blend two substances that are normally unmixable or difficult to mix. Daucus carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract is a natural ingredient derived from roots of the carrot plant (Daucus carota). This extract is known for its soothing and moisturizing properties. It helps keep the skin hydrated and contributes to a gentle and pleasant cleansing.

Horsetail is a plant rich in calcium, potassium and other minerals. It has lots of vitamin D and vitamin E. It also possesses proteins and amino acids. The little plant is great for hair care because it stimulates the growth of your hair.
Eucalyptus Alba Leaf Extract - Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is a tree with many medicinal properties for various purposes. For example, essential oil is made from its leaves. For your hair, eucalyptus has a wonderful effect because it is a source of antioxidants, including flavonoids. The antioxidants protect your hair from sun damage and fight hair loss! Do you suffer from frizzy hair and/or split ends? The antioxidants help with these as well. Furthermore, it stimulates blood circulation, which will make your hair grow faster and delays the graying of your hair.
Eugenol - Eugenol

Euphorbia Cerifera Cera - (Candelilla wax)
Also called Candelilla wax, is a vegan alternative to beeswax and comes
from the leaves of the Candelilla bush. Candelilla wax makes the skin soft
and does not feel sticky. It is mainly used for protective
products such as conditioner, lip balm and sunscreen.

Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower (Extract) - Lavender extract
Lavender extract is extracted from the lavender plant. At Blokzeep , we use this ingredient in both our deodorant and shampoo bar. Lavender is known for, in addition to its fantastic fragrance, its nurturing and cooling effects. That's why it works well as an anti-dandruff ingredient in our shampoo bars! It also strengthens your hair roots, which benefits your hair growth. Its conditioning properties are also ideal for use in our deodorant, as it cares for your skin, protects it and makes it wonderfully soft.

Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil - Macadamia nut oil

Mangifera Indica Seed (Mango) Butter- Mango butter

This will give your scalp an extremely healthy appearance. It has a cleansing effect and also contains many antioxidants such as vitamin A and vitamin E.
Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil - Tea Tree oil
Tea Tree oil is a 100% natural, essential oil that is widely used as a fragrance ingredient due to its wonderful, intense scent. At Blokzeep , we use this ingredient in both our deodorant and shampoo bar. Tea Tree oil reduces irritations on the scalp and it cleanses the hair due to its antibacterial effect. This is because bacteria and fungi can cause dandruff. So tea tree is also very beneficial against dandruff! In addition, it reduces excess greasiness in your hair, so it also has a degreasing effect and moisturizes your skin at the same time. The antibacterial effect is also ideal for in our natural deodorant, as it prevents fatty acids from being converted into unpleasant odors.
Mentha Piperita Leaf (Extract) - Mentha Arvensis Oil - Peppermint
Peppermint has a fine fresh pungent fragrance. There are phenolic compounds present in peppermint oil such as menthol and carvacrol 5, which gives it its antibacterial effect. This is very good if you suffer from greasy hair. Peppermint oil also contains many antioxidants, which protect your hair from sun damage and fight hair loss! Peppermint oil has a cooling effect on the skin and moisturizes the skin after sunburn, thus keeping your skin healthy and radiant.
Do you suffer from frizzy hair and/or split ends? Antioxidants help against these as well. Furthermore, they stimulate blood circulation, which will make your hair grow faster, and they delay the graying of your hair. Finally, peppermint oil also enhances the effect of other agents contained in the same product.
Myristyl Myristate
This substance is widely used in cosmetic products to improve texture and spreadability. Myristyl Myristate is extracted from natural fatty alcohol. This type of alcohol does not dehydrate, but rather softens and moisturizes.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil - Olive Oil
Olive oil is a very suitable base oil for actives and is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. It ensures healthy hair, it moisturizes, softens and relaxes the skin and thus also reduces skin irritation. It also combats skin aging due to the vitamin E, antioxidants, phytosterols and polyphenols it contains.
Oleyl Erucate
Oleyl Erucate is a plant-based compound between oleyl alcohol and erucic acid. Sounds complicated so let's zoom in on these two ingredients. Erucic acid is a plant ingredient derived from various seeds, for example, rapeseed or mustard seed. Oley alcohol then allows the oil to be mixed with other liquid components. The combination between these two ingredients makes your skin wonderfully soft and smooth.
Optuntia Ficus-Indica Seed Oil - prickly pear oil
Prickly pear oil is a rare oil extracted from the tiny seeds of the prickly pear. The oil is known for its moisturizing properties. In fact, it naturally restores your skin barrier and thus helps retain moisture better. Your skin becomes less dry and it reduces wrinkles, fine lines and dark circles. Prickly pear oil is therefore considered the natural anti-aging product.

Papaver Orientale Seed - Oriental Poppy
Poppy is a type of poppy. It comes in various colors such as red, orange, pink, white and purple. Poppy is an excellent combination with Calendula. Together they have a degreasing effect and restore the scalp. Specially, for people with blonde hair, these natural products ensure that the blonde color is enhanced. Also good for curly hair.
Perfume
Our products each contain a small amount of perfume, for which a mild variant is used. So it is also suitable for people with sensitive scalps. With these products you not only shower safely, your hair/body also smells great!
Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil - Avocado Oil
Colloquially known as ordinary Avocado oil. Due to a high content of palmitoleic acid, the oil is well absorbed into the hair and skin, making it suitable for sensitive skin or damaged hair.
Phenoxyethanol
Phenoxyethanol is a paraben-free substance. It is used as a preservative and is a healthier and better alternative to parabens. Unfortunately, you can't completely avoid this type of ingredient because, of course, you don't want your product to get moldy quickly. However, we have made sure that there is a minimal amount of this ingredient in our products. As a result, this preservative in our product does not cause skin problems or allergic reactions*. It ensures a longer shelf life due to its bactericidal properties.

Pinus Sylvestris Bud (Extract) - Pine Apple Extract
Pine cone extract has anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties. It also has a cleansing effect on the hair and scalp. In addition, it improves the protective properties of your hair and stimulates blood circulation.
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil - Almond Oil
Almond oil is a very skin-friendly oil and really gives your hair a boost! It is especially good for a dry scalp. Almond oil is rich in vitamins A, B, D and E. It stimulates the growth of your hair and makes your hair thick and healthy. It also makes the scalp supple, releasing dandruff and other dead cells. Thus, your natural oils can take care of your scalp and hair follicles. Almond oil also works well against hair loss.

Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract- Radish seed oil
Radish seed oil smooths your hair follicles. It cleanses and has a disinfecting effect. It has soothing properties and thus makes the scalp soft and supple. It also makes your hair silky without making your hair greasy.
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil
Castor oil, or Castor Oil, is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the "Miracle Tree." Castor oil is known for its cleansing and nurturing properties and, as a result, is often used for troubled skin. Castor oil clears your pores of bacteria and supports the skin's healing ability. This makes castor oil an excellent ingredient for our makeup removers.

Sea Salt - Sea Salt
The normal, little-known sea salt. In shampoos and conditioners, it is used to naturally add volume to hair.
Sodium Bicarbonate - Baking Soda
Baking soda is another name for baking soda. Bacteria are needed to convert fatty acids to sweat odor. Salt inhibits the growth of bacteria and thus prevents you from unpleasant odors. It also keeps your skin flora unaffected and your pores from getting clogged.
Sodium Chloride - Sodium Chloride
Sodium chloride, or table salt, is an ingredient you might not immediately expect to find in skin care products. But because of the tiny crystals in the salt, the ingredient can serve as a very mild exfoliator and is thus good for removing dead skin cells, makeup, excess sebum, dirt and other impurities. Thus, it helps you maintain clear skin. Other than that, the ingredient offers no specific benefits for your skin. Nevertheless, it is indispensable for many cosmetics products, as sodium chloride is used as a binder to hold other ingredients together.
Sodium Coco-Sulfate - Sodium Coco Sulfate
Basically, you would say avoid chemical sulfates (such as Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate) in your hair products as much as possible. This is because these are not good for your hair. Why? Chemical sulfates have a cleansing effect, degreasing your hair and making your shampoo foamy. Unfortunately, this also means that it disrupts the natural functioning of your head and hair, which only makes your hair greasier faster! Solanum Tuberosum Starch - potato starch
Potato starch is the starch extracted from the tuber of the potato. The starch nourishes your skin, it prevents dehydration of your skin cells and helps maintain an optimal level of hydration. This ingredient is suitable for both dry skin and oily skin. In fact, for dry and sensitive skin, it helps your face become soft and smooth again, and for oily skin, it helps rid your skin of excessive fat. The moisturizing properties of this ingredient make it very suitable for use in our face creams.
Stearic Acid - Stearic acid
Stearic acid is a completely organic fatty acid prepared from vegetable oil. Stearic acid helps blend two substances that are normally unmixable or difficult to mix.
