Cradle to Cradle - Our sustainable packaging

At Blokzeep , we believe it is important for our products to be natural and sustainable. For example, our shampoo bars, conditioner bars and body bars are made without SLS and parabens and only with natural ingredients.

But we believe that a sustainable brand must go much further to call itself truly sustainable. Because for us, sustainable cosmetics means that as a company you also pay attention to the production and transportation of your products. By producing our products within the EU, our products do not have to travel as far and thus we also reduce our emissions. And the packaging of our shampoo, conditioner and body bars as well as the gift packaging are Cradle to Cradle certified. But what exactly does Cradle to Cradle mean and what makes it so sustainable?

Living in a world without waste - Zero Waste

Cradle to Cradle is inspired by nature: it assumes an infinite circular process in which materials can be reused again and again. All materials used in the process are therefore harmless to the environment and waste is not seen as waste, but as input for a new process. Thus, Cradle to Cradle not only minimizes harmful influences of a production process, but creates a positive ecological footprint by creating "waste" that can be used again. So it is not only recyclable but also fully biodegradable.

And what does this mean specifically for Blokzeep?

Our gift packaging and individual packaging of the shampoo bars, conditioner bars and body bars are Cradle to Cradle certified. This means several things:

• The paper of the packaging has the FSC (Forest stewardship Council) logo as standard. This means that the paper is either recycled or made from responsibly planted and harvested forest. The FSC logo may only be put on their products (in our case: packaging) by an FSC-certified company;
• The ink used to print the packaging is made without harmful substances, making it 100% eco-friendly and biodegradable;
• The producer of our packaging is completely carbon neutral and uses 100% renewable energy for all processes;
• The wastewater generated in the production of our packaging is so clean that it is just drinkable again;
• Throughout the process - from paper making to printing - care has been taken to minimize waste. The "waste" that does arise is used as production material in other processes;
• The producer demonstrates social responsibility based on recognized standards, such as the Global Compact. For example, in consultation with the municipality where the factory is located, it has installed lighted bicycle lanes so that workers can cycle to work safely.
